Requirements for foreign citizens to obtain visa to Moldova for study purposes

  1. Valid signed passport
  2. Application form, fully completed and signed
  3. Passport-type photograph
  4. Visa D cost–80 Euro

Foreign citizens can obtain visa in diplomatic mission of Moldova.

 

Entry Conditions

  • The citizens of the following states, the holders of all the types of passports, do not need visas for the entry on the territory of the Republic of Moldova for a period of stay until 90 days, during six months from the moment of the first entry:
  • The following member states of the European Union :Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Holland, Hungary, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden;
  • Other country nationals: Canada, Georgia, Holy See, Iceland, Japan, Principality of Andorra, Principality of Monaco, Principality of Liechtenstein, Norway, San Marino, State of Israel, Swiss Confederation, USA, Georgia;
  • CIS member states: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.
  • The citizens of Member States of the European Union, holders of all types of passport, If foreigners plan to stay in Moldova longer than 90 days must obtain the certificate of immigration from the Office of Migration and Asylum.

To apply for a vacancy for research position in one of R&D institution from Moldova, researchers must obtain the work permit. This official document, issued under the law, grants the right to work on a legal basis and entitles the holder to be employed by an individual employment contract or secondment in Moldova to a single employer.

 

Visa/residence permit

Citizens who intend to undertake scientific or academic activity in Moldova must apply for the entry visa and the temporary residencepermit in Moldova. Visa is granted by the Diplomatic Missions and Consular Offices of the Republic of Moldova. The Moldovan consular authorities issue two types of visas for foreign researchers, depending on the purposes of stay:

  • Type “C” Visa–short term visa is issued for a fixed period of time not exceeding 90 days per period of six months from the first entry.
  • Type “D” Visa–is issued for a period not exceeding 12 months, with a stay up to 90 days during six months from the first entry. This type of visa allows the right to submit for a permanent residence permit. Long term visa is a multiple-entry visa. Pursuant to the provisions of the Law no. 200 of July 16, 2010 concerning the foreigner’s regime in the Republic of Moldova, foreign citizens, holders of a valid permanent residence permit, issued by the authorities of the Republic of Moldova, are exempted from the visa requirement.

 

How to get a Visa for Moldova? Important

A visa granted for a short stay of less than 90 days can be prolonged for a new period, so that the duration of the total stay should not exceed 90 days during 6 months from the arrival in the country.

The prolongation of the visa can take place for the same purpose it has been initially granted. The application for the prolongation of the visa is handed in to the competent authorities for foreigners withat least 3 working days before the expiration of the term established in the visa. A long stay visa is granted for a period not longer than 12 months, for one or more stays the duration of which should not exceed 90 days during 6 months from the date of the first arrival in the country, which permits the foreign citizen to request a stay permit. A visa for a long stay can be with one or multiple arrivals or departures.

Blank forms and necessary documents. The documents presented by the natural person:

  • The blank, filled in and signed by the applicant;
  • The declaration–concerning the goal of the visit (filled in while handing in the documents).
  • The copy of the foreigner’s document of crossing the state boarder;
  • The copy of the entrance/exit visa(indicate the date and place of crossing the state frontier);
  • Thecopy of the invitation (in case when the visa was obtained on the grounds of an invitation);
  • The copy of the ID or permit of staying of the person who has filled in the invitation.
  • Certificate of the lodging (hotel reservation, the accord of the owner of the dwelling certified by the notary, the copy of the renting contract of the dwelling).

 

 

The integration process involves adaptation and participation of immigrants who have all rights and duties in relation to their new country of residence, whether they have a right of residence or a form of protection.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs through its responsible structure – the competent authority for foreigners (Bureau of Migration and Asylum) – coordinates the process of integration of foreigners on the territory of the Republic of Moldova.

Categories of foreigners who fall under the provisions of the Law on integration of foreigners in the Republic of Moldova and integration

activities they can benefit:

● Foreigners holding temporary residence permit for family reunification;

● Foreigners holding temporary residence right for humanitarian and religious activities;

● Foreigners holding the permanent residence right;

● Persons to whom the stateless status was recognized in the Republic of Moldova.

Types of activities:

- Socio-cultural adaptation sessions (trainings on values and national traditions, administrative political and organization system of the Republic of Moldova), organized by the Ministry of Culture.

- State language courses organized by the Ministry of Education through subordinated educational institutions and the local authorities from the place of residence.

- Information and counseling on ways to access labour market through territorial employment agencies.

● Foreigners holding temporary residence permit for the purpose of studies

Types of activities:

- Socio-cultural adaptation sessions (trainings on values and national traditions, administrative political and organization system of the Republic of Moldova), organized by the Ministry of Culture.

- State language courses organized by the Ministry of Education through subordinated educational institutions and the local authorities from the place of residence.

Access to other rights

Access to medical services – Foreigners employed in the Republic of Moldova on an individual employment contract, as well as foreigners and stateless persons with residence in the Republic of Moldova, have the same rights and duties regarding access to medical services as the citizens of the Republic of Moldova in accordance with the law.

Access to social protection system – Foreigners have access to the public system of social insurance and to national system of social assistance in the same conditions established by law for the citizens of the Republic of Moldova.

Access to education – Foreigners have access to the preschool, primary and secondary general education in the same conditions as citizens of the Republic of Moldova. Access to to the secondary education, middle level education and higher education is performed according to the existing legislation.

Foreigners who want to apply for integration activities can address an application to the One Stop Shop for documentation of foreigners of the competent authority for foreigners (Bureau of Migration and Asylum) situated in mun. Chisinau, 124, Stefan cel Mare ave., 2nd floor, office 225.
